Smoke Customer Intelligence, a Voice of the Customer software provider, today announced Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance. This further proves Smoke CI’s commitment to protecting its customers’ data and ensuring that its solutions meet data protection regulations.
"We are pleased to add HIPAA compliance to our existing data security measures, which includes ISO 27001 certification," says Werner Visagie, GM, Finance and Compliance, Smoke CI. “Our decision to become HIPAA compliant shows our healthcare clients, who trust us with sensitive patient information, that we are committed to providing the most secure solution available.”
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 is a U.S. federal law meant to safeguard sensitive electronic protected health information (ePHI). HIPAA compliance requires any entity that deals with ePHI to have the necessary security policies and procedures in place, which include physical, network, and process measures, to protect sensitive data. Smoke CI has implemented the appropriate safeguards to manage information privacy and information security and compliance to HIPAA legislation.
“The COVID-19 pandemic pushed organisations to find new ways of providing healthcare, with many patients choosing to be treated remotely,” says Sarah Lubbe, Head of Client at Smoke CI. “Furthermore, the healthcare industry has moved away from traditional paper-based methods and has adopted digital systems to store and process sensitive patient information. HIPAA compliance solidifies our dedication to meet privacy and compliance requirements. It will enable us to further support our healthcare clients in providing premium digital experiences to their patients.”
